SEX IN ART
BOOK DESIGN, 2022
"Sex in Art" is an exhibition book design project that curates and showcases a collection of thought-provoking works from six talented female artists: Sarah Slappey, Madeleine Roger-Lacan, Oh de Laval, Jenna Gribbon, Ambera Wellmann, and Naudline Pierre. Centered around the theme of sex, this exhibition explores the complex relationship between sexuality, desire, anger, violence, despair, and happiness in art. As one of the oldest and most challenging themes in art history, the project aims to encourage a healthy understanding and appreciation of the human body and its portrayal in art.
Held at the Sim Smith Gallery in London, a space known for supporting emerging artists, the exhibition focuses on the works of contemporary, young creators. The book design complements the exhibition's theme, presenting the artwork and artist information in a visually engaging and cohesive manner. By curating and designing this unique exhibition, the project sheds light on the critical role of sexuality in artistic expression and encourages a broader understanding of its significance in contemporary art.
